What is an RTMP server?

Think of it as a mailing address for your live video. When OBS, a phone app, or a camera asks for an "RTMP URL", it is really asking: where should I deliver this stream? An RTMP server is the place that answers — it receives your video the moment you press "Go Live" and passes it on to wherever your audience is watching.

What is an RTMP server, in simple terms?

Is my stream secure?
Your stream key acts as a private password, so only you can publish to your RTMP server, and you can reset it anytime. If you need an encrypted connection end to end — for example on public networks — use the SRT streaming option, which encrypts your video in transit.
