How church live streaming works

A third of churchgoers found their current church online, and homebound members, travelers, and overseas family all depend on your stream to stay part of the congregation. Streaming is no longer a backup plan: it is the front door of your church.

With Livepush the workflow stays simple: your camera and sound desk feed one stream to the cloud (from a phone, OBS, or any encoder), and Livepush delivers it everywhere at once: the ad-free player on your website, YouTube, Facebook, and 40+ platforms, all recorded automatically.

Start with what you have
A phone or webcam plus free OBS software is enough for your first Sunday. Upgrade cameras and switchers later without changing anything in Livepush.
One stream, every destination
Send a single stream and Livepush relays it to your website player and every social platform simultaneously. No second encoder, no extra upload bandwidth.
Nothing gets lost
Every service is recorded automatically as an MP4, ready for your sermon archive, podcast, or YouTube channel minutes after the benediction.

Worship on your website, with nothing else beside it

Embed a responsive HTML5 player on your church website with a copy-paste snippet. Unlike free platforms, there are no pre-roll ads, no "up next" videos chosen by an algorithm, and no distractions next to your sermon. Your website becomes the home of your online congregation.

Meet your congregation where they already are

Some members watch on your website, others on Facebook with their family, others on YouTube on the living room TV. Send one stream and Livepush carries your service to all of them at once, to 40+ platforms plus any custom RTMP destination.

  • YouTube, Facebook Live, Instagram, X, Twitch, and 40+ destinations from one dashboard
  • Multi-chat overlay gathers greetings and prayer requests from every platform into one view
  • Churches simulcasting to multiple platforms consistently reach more members than single-platform streams

From a phone in the pew to a full production booth

  • RTMP & SRT ingest from OBS, vMix, Wirecast, phones, and hardware encoders
  • Real-time monitoring of stream quality, bitrate, fps, and viewers
  • Team accounts: your media volunteers share access without sharing one login

  • Live rewind: late joiners scrub back up to 12 hours within the stream
  • Automatic MP4 recordings of every service, minutes after you end
  • Build a sermon library homebound and overseas members can watch anytime

Weddings, funerals, and members-only gatherings stay private

Not every service belongs on a public platform. Protect any stream with a password, lock playback to your church's own website, and share expiring private links with family members who cannot attend in person. You decide exactly who watches.

  • Password-protected streams for members-only services and meetings
  • Domain lock: the player works only on your church website
  • Tokenized expiring links for families to share privately

Every ministry, one platform

From a single Sunday service to a multi-campus network with a 24/7 worship channel.

Sunday worship services

Stream weekly services live to your website and social platforms simultaneously, with automatic recordings building your sermon archive week after week.

Multi-campus & multilingual churches

Run separate streams per campus or language service from one account, with team access so each campus's volunteers manage their own broadcast.

Homebound & overseas members

Members who cannot attend in person worship live with everyone else, and replays let different time zones join on their own schedule.

Weddings, funerals & special events

Give families a private, password-protected stream to share with relatives who cannot travel, kept off public platforms entirely.

Bible studies, youth & midweek ministry

Smaller gatherings stream to the audiences that need them: unlisted links for a study group, or public simulcast for youth outreach.

Faith TV & outreach channels

Grow beyond weekly services into a 24/7 worship channel that loops teachings and music between live broadcasts, on your site and social platforms.

Church Live Streaming:
Questions Churches Ask

Everything about streaming worship services, from equipment to music licensing. More questions? Visit the Help Center.

How do I live stream my church service?
Point a camera at your stage (a phone, webcam, or PTZ camera all work), take audio from your sound desk, and send the feed to Livepush with OBS or any RTMP/SRT encoder. Livepush then delivers the stream to your church website's embed player and simulcasts it to YouTube, Facebook, and 40+ platforms at the same time. Most churches go from signup to their first live service in under an hour, and every service is recorded automatically.
What equipment does a small church need to start streaming?
Less than you think. A smartphone or a single webcam plus free OBS software on a laptop is enough for a clean first broadcast. The biggest quality win is audio: take a feed from your existing sound board instead of using the camera microphone. As you grow, you can add PTZ cameras, a video switcher, or a hardware encoder, and none of that changes anything on the Livepush side: it is the same RTMP or SRT stream.
How much does church live streaming cost?
You can start free with 20 streaming hours per month and no credit card. Simulcasting to YouTube, Facebook, and other social platforms starts at $13/month. Streaming on your own church website with the ad-free hosted player, Akamai CDN delivery, and 1 TB of monthly bandwidth starts at $49/month. Dedicated church streaming platforms commonly start at $119/month for comparable website streaming, so most congregations save meaningfully without giving up features. See live hosting plans for details.
Can we stream to our website, YouTube, and Facebook at the same time?
Yes. You send one stream to Livepush and it is delivered simultaneously to the player embedded on your church website and to YouTube, Facebook, and 40+ other platforms, plus any custom RTMP destination. A multi-chat overlay gathers comments from every platform into one view, so your online host can greet and respond to everyone from a single screen.
Can we broadcast a pre-recorded service as if it were live?
Yes. Upload your recorded service, schedule it for Sunday at 10:00 AM, and Livepush plays it out as a real live stream on your website and social platforms. Viewers watch together in real time, chat stays live, and no one on your team has to touch a computer on Sunday morning. Recurring weekly schedules and playlists that loop past sermons between services are supported too. Learn more about the pre-recorded live scheduler.
Do we need a music license (like CCLI) to stream worship songs?
Usually yes. Performing copyrighted worship music in a building and streaming it online are licensed separately. Most churches that stream services with copyrighted songs carry a streaming license such as the CCLI Streaming License, which covers songs performed live by your own musicians. It does not cover playing studio recordings or other people's videos in your stream. Public domain hymns and original music your church owns need no license. Livepush delivers your stream but does not grant music rights, so confirm your coverage with your licensing provider.
Can members watch a replay if they miss the live service?
Yes, in two ways. While you are live, viewers who arrive late can rewind up to 12 hours within the stream and catch up without leaving the player. After the service, an MP4 recording appears in your dashboard automatically, ready to publish as a sermon archive on your website or upload to YouTube. Homebound members and members in other time zones can worship on their own schedule.
Can we keep weddings, funerals, and members-only events private?
Yes. Protect any stream with a password, lock playback to your church's domain so the player only works on your website, and use tokenized expiring URLs so links cannot be shared or restreamed. Families get a private link to share with relatives who cannot attend, and nothing appears on public platforms unless you choose to simulcast.
How many people can watch our stream at once?
There is no hard concurrent-viewer cap. Playback is delivered through Akamai's global CDN, the same infrastructure used by major broadcasters, so your Easter or Christmas service scales from dozens of viewers to thousands without buffering. Adaptive bitrate serves each viewer the best quality their connection supports. The free bandwidth calculator helps you estimate monthly needs.
Is Livepush simple enough for volunteers to run?
Yes. Once your destinations are connected and your encoder preset is saved, a typical Sunday is: start the encoder, confirm the dashboard shows a healthy stream, and go live everywhere with one click. Real-time monitoring shows bitrate, frame rate, and viewer counts at a glance, and team accounts let several volunteers share access without sharing one login.
