Getting started

What is live event hosting?
Live event hosting gives you a branded player you embed directly on your own website, powered by Akamai CDN. Instead of sending viewers to YouTube or Facebook to watch, they stay on your site. You get a direct HLS / M3U8 link, a customisable player, and high-bandwidth infrastructure designed for large audiences - all included alongside social media streaming.
How is this different from social media streaming?
Social media streaming sends your video to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch. Live event hosting adds a player that lives on your own domain - you own the viewer experience, branding, and access controls. These plans include both: you can stream to social platforms and host on your website at the same time, from the same source stream.
Do I still get social media streaming with these plans?
Yes. Every live event hosting plan includes everything in the social media streaming plans - multistreaming to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and 30+ platforms, pre-recorded scheduling, and recordings. Live hosting is additive, not a replacement.
Who are these plans for?
Live event hosting plans are used by event organisers, churches, sports broadcasters, media networks, conference producers, and any organisation that wants viewers watching on their own website rather than a third-party platform. The Network and Enterprise plans are suited to broadcasters delivering to large or international audiences.
Do I need technical knowledge to get started?
No. Embed the player by copying an iframe snippet into your website. Connect your encoder using an RTMP URL and stream key - the same way you would with any streaming platform. Most users are live within 30 minutes of signing up.
Can I run multiple pre-recorded streams to different destinations at the same time?
Yes. You can run multiple pre-recorded streams simultaneously, each going to entirely different destinations - for example one video streaming to a YouTube premiere, another to a Twitch channel, and a third embedded on your website via the hosted player. All streams are independent and can be scheduled separately. The number of simultaneous pre-recorded streams ranges from 2 on Events up to 12 on Enterprise.

Plans & pricing

What is the difference between Events, Studio, Network, and Enterprise?
Events ($59/mo) is for organisations hosting polished live events with up to 3 simultaneous streams, 1TB bandwidth, and live transcoding included. Studio ($139/mo) adds SRT output, 24/7 playlist streaming, 4K output, and 3TB bandwidth for production teams running live channels continuously. Network ($399/mo) scales to 9 simultaneous streams, 8TB bandwidth, dual cloud transcoding, and on-air schedule updates for broadcasters with large audiences. Enterprise is custom-priced with a dedicated server, custom CNAME, and direct access to our engineering team.
How much bandwidth do I get?
Events includes 1TB per month, Studio includes 3TB, and Network includes 8TB. Bandwidth covers the data delivered to viewers watching your hosted player. If you go over your allowance, overages are billed at $0.033 per GB. You can estimate your usage with our bandwidth calculator.
What happens if I exceed my bandwidth?
Your stream keeps running - we do not cut off mid-event. Bandwidth overages are billed at $0.033 per GB at the end of the billing period. If you regularly exceed your allowance, upgrading plans is more cost-effective than paying overages every month.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes. Annual billing saves up to 20% compared to monthly. The Events plan drops from $59 to $49/mo, Studio from $139 to $119/mo, and Network from $399 to $339/mo when billed annually. Toggle between monthly and annual at the top of this page before subscribing.
Can I upgrade mid-month if my event grows?
Yes. You can upgrade your plan at any time from your account settings. The new plan takes effect immediately, and you gain access to the higher bandwidth and stream limits right away. Billing is prorated for the remainder of your current cycle.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel before your next billing date and you will not be charged again. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.
What is the Enterprise plan?
Enterprise is a custom plan for organisations that need full infrastructure ownership. It includes a dedicated streaming server, custom CNAME for white-label DNS, petabyte-scale CDN capacity, live migration from your current platform, full setup handled by our team, and a direct Slack line to our engineering team. Contact us to discuss pricing.

Player & delivery

How do I embed the live player on my website?
Copy the iframe embed snippet from your Livepush dashboard and paste it into any webpage - WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or plain HTML all work. The player is responsive and adapts to any container width. No plugins or third-party scripts are required beyond the embed code.
Can I add my branding to the player?
Yes. You can add a logo overlay displayed on top of the video, a custom background poster shown before the stream starts, and a custom colour theme for the player controls. The custom poster and colour theme are available on all live hosting plans; the logo overlay is available from Studio and above.
Can I password-protect my stream?
Yes, on the Network plan and above. Add a secret code and only viewers who enter it can watch. This is useful for ticketed events, members-only broadcasts, corporate all-hands meetings, and private screenings.
Can I block viewers from specific countries?
Yes. Geo-blocking lets you whitelist or restrict access by country. You can also restrict your player to only load on specific domains, which prevents others from hotlinking your embed on their own sites.
What CDN does Livepush use for player delivery?
Livepush delivers hosted streams through Akamai - one of the world's largest CDN networks. This means fast, low-latency delivery to viewers globally, with consistent performance at any audience size. The Enterprise plan scales to petabyte-level delivery for very large or international events.

Technical

What is an HLS / M3U8 link and how do I use it?
An M3U8 (HLS) link is a direct URL to your live stream that any compatible media player can read - including smart TVs, mobile apps, custom video players, and broadcast receivers. Instead of using the Livepush embed widget, you can point any HLS-compatible player at this URL to play your stream on any screen or device.
What output links does Livepush provide?
Every live hosting plan includes HLS / M3U8 and DASH playback links for embedding or custom player integration. RTMP output is also included on all plans. SRT output links are available from Studio and above - useful for feeding your stream into broadcast hardware, decoders, or downstream systems that accept SRT ingest.
What video quality does the hosted player support?
The Events plan supports up to 1080p. Studio and above support up to 4K. Quality depends on your encoder output - Livepush passes your stream through without re-encoding by default, which preserves quality and minimises latency.
What is adaptive quality streaming (ABR)?
ABR (Adaptive Bitrate) transcoding creates multiple quality renditions of your stream - for example 1080p, 720p, and 480p - and automatically serves the right one based on each viewer's internet speed. This reduces buffering for viewers on slower connections. ABR is included on Network (2 streams) and Enterprise, and available as a paid add-on on Events and Studio.
What is a custom CNAME and why does it matter?
A custom CNAME lets you serve your live stream player from your own domain - for example, stream.yourcompany.com - rather than a Livepush subdomain. This completes the white-label experience and is available on the Enterprise plan. It requires a DNS change on your domain and our team handles the full setup.

Support & account

How do I reach support?
Our support team is available via in-app live chat, with most queries answered within a few hours. Network and Enterprise subscribers get priority response. Enterprise customers also get a direct Slack channel with our engineering team. For documentation, visit our Help Center.
Can I invite team members?
Yes. All plans support team member invites so your production team, account managers, or technical staff can access the dashboard without sharing your login. Invite limits scale with your plan.
Can Livepush migrate us from another platform?
Yes, on the Enterprise plan. Our team handles live migration from your existing streaming infrastructure - including setup, testing, and go-live support - so there is no disruption to your audience or operations.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Enterprise plans can be invoiced separately - contact us to arrange.
